CENTRAL APPALACHIA
LEADERSHIP LAB

APPALACHIA AWAITS

We’re pursuing a bold 2030 goal for Central Appalachia, and we invite community leaders from Eastern Kentucky, Southwest Virginia, Northeast Tennessee, and West Virginia to join us as members of the Central Appalachia Leadership Lab (CALL).

Our hope for the region we serve: by 2030, twice as many students in Central Appalachian communities will achieve postsecondary readiness and success, indicating that they are on a path to economic mobility and a future filled with possibility.

To reach this goal, we invite leaders to join us as Lab members, a robust team of leaders across all sectors and industries who will drive toward collective impact in our mountain communities.

The Lab

CALL is a three-year leadership development opportunity for community members, including but not limited to TFA alumni, who are (or seek to be) living, working, and leading in the TFA Appalachia region. Members will individually and collectively spur innovation, problem solve with agility, and leverage strengths across our Appalachian communities.

We seek to keep already-rooted leaders here in Central Appalachia and recruit additional alumni leaders from across the country to relocate to the region.

The Opportunity

CALL members will receive a financial award and personalized professional development, developing and acting on personal theories of change as motivated community leaders.

Members will grow deep roots in their communities and will shift national narratives to the power, possibility, and potential of our region.

Inspired by our founding executive board co-chair and proud Appalachian, Bill Bissett, Ed.D., the Lab ensures Central Appalachia is a top choice for our nation’s best and brightest leaders who are compelled to achieve the promise we know is possible.
